The 5P85D is the “Slave” vehicle of S-300 PS surface-to-air missile battery, usually deployed in pairs with a single 5P85S. The area behind the driver compartment is not enclosed, and is used for cable or spare tyre storage. The 5P85D carries four missile silos (one missile by silo) mounted to the back side of the chassis. During launching the silos are drawn in vertical position, to the back side of the truck.
